Context, or "more information," provides a framework for assigning values.  
Perception constatly changes when provided a new set of facts to consider.  
An act we see as "evil" today might have seemed "normal" or even "good" when 
it was done in the past.

It was a silly shorthanded way of pointing out what a racist might say, 
percieving himself to be morally pure.
