On the Brothers Grimm tip, Hans Ritz' Die Geschichte vom Rotkaeppchen
(which I'm sure is available in English, and is probably called something
like "The Story of Little Red Riding-Hood") is worth reading. Origins of
LRRH, and analyis of how is played out in our culture -- plus modern
parodies and retellings, and wonderful woodcuts.

The right-hand, still untasted part of the novel, which,
during our delectable reading, we would lightly feel,
mechanically testing whether there were still plenty
left (and our fingers were always gladdened by the
placid, faithful thickness) has suddenly, for no reason
at all, become quite meager: a few minutes of quick
reading, already downhill, and -- O horrible!
