Apropos the presence of spirits, I relate the following short-short story, 
all of which is true and probably boring to you:

A fraternity brother of mine back in college in the '60's and I were horror 
movie buffs and were ever on the alert for "Carnival of Souls," which we 
had heard was a "must see."  Never got to see it back then, however.

In the early seventies, my friend was on a reconnaissance mission over 
North Vietnam and was shot down and eventually declared KIA.

One Sunday morning after a late-night debauch in '76 or '77, I stumbled 
home and turned on the television just as the announcer began saying 
something like, "Welcome back to All-Night Theater. We hope you'll enjoy 
our final feature, 'Carnival of Souls.'"

I was especially affected by the film.

Oh, did I mention?  It was Easter morning.  Go figure.
