I recall Burroughs saying it on Laurie Anderson's United States Live in a
"song" I believed called "Difficult Listening" He says "Language is a virus
from outer space, and listening to your voice is easier than looking at your
face."
She also has a song "Language is a Virus" on Home of the Brave.
It was probably quoted from somewhere else first though. Maybe in one of the
cut-up trilogy books. If no one comes up with it I'll look it up at home.
