Sad news.

It happens, coincidentally, that I'm right now rereading Something Happened,
a marvelous, funny, and pitilessly detailed dissection of the American male
psyche I first read many years ago when it was considered a long-awaited
failure.

He'll be remembered mostly as the author of Catch 22, but his entire body of
work is well worth reading. Good As Gold (along with Seymour Hersch's The
Price of Power) is a must-read for anyone with lingering (or ever-ready)
antipathies toward Henry Kissinger ("He's no Jew!").

Plus he was an all-round good guy and a mensch. (Heller, that is; not the
war crminal.)
