I say, in the dynamic Pynchon has constructed for us to explore, this "evil" 
label serves only to stop an exploration that it is only so obvious Pynchon 
wants us to delve deep into.  The dynamic is the thing.  Going beyond such 
trite and limiting labels requires looking deeper into the souls he has 
constructed for us.  Why would S&M be such a recurring theme in his work?  
Do you really believe it's 'cause he wants the reader to think "That's SO 
yucky, Buffy!  Eeeuuuu!!!"
