Certainly, to some extent.

I like critical theory too, but there still seems to be a line
between applying and overapplying. I certainly (claim to) understand
your desire to read the way you want. My message was more intended
to send out feelers for readers whose interests were more in line
with my own.

Pynchon's text are so rich that, it seems to me, to not stick to
them is to do them, and ourselves, a disservice.
