  Quite right. It is in this sense, I think, that some philosophers speak of 
  "moral luck", when somebody drives drunken and does not hurt anybody. Driving 
  drunken is in any case an evil action (- except for lonesome deserts, I 
  assume, but we don't have that here), but the quality of the result measures 
  the degree.
