As a father *and* a lover *and* a messiah. Gottfried willingly submits
too. Not once, and the narrative is privy to Gottfried's consciousness
on several occasions, does Gottfried express any hesitation to accept
whatever Blicero has to offer. (102-3, 723-724)

Neither does Enzian, nor, in retrospect, does he recant his association
with the man.

Enzian, at least, and Gottfried too, I think, are under no delusions
about what Blicero stands for, what he is teaching. In each case the
sexual submission to him, as depicted in the text, is a desired one on
the boy's part.
