Charles Hollander is a dedicated Pynchon scholar who remains highly
respected in the community of those who study Pynchon seriously (as opposed
to those who toss their nitwit opinions off at the click of a mouse on the
P-list), publishing articles in _Pynchon Notes_ and elsewhere that continue
to illuminate the path that countless others follow as they come to grips
with Pynchon's work. But don't take my word for it, read his articles and
see if they don't open up new avenues of understanding for you in reading
Pynchon. If rj could grasp and appreciate even a tiny percentage of the
deep study and historical research that Hollander has accomplished over the
years, perhaps rj's tired PoMo retreads would take on a little vigor
instead of representing an endless reshuffling of cliches and attempts to
squeeze Pynchon into his formula lit-crit approach.
rj is quick to cry foul when somebody else transgresses against his sense
of Internet manners (cf. his hysterical posts regarding freedom of speech
and anonymity when he joined the P-list) but even quicker to breach
netiquette and list confidences when piqued. rj remains what he was when
he came onto Pynchon-L, a flame-baiting troll.
