Theodor Däubler (1876-1934), a poet, led a travelling life between Italy,
France, Greek & the Orient. Later he lived in Berlin. His major poetry work
"Das Nordlicht" was published in 1910. The quoted passage comes from an essay,
which is in outtakes reprinted in the Gnosis reader of Sloterdijk & Macho (-
"Weltrevolution der Seele. Ein Lese- und Arbeitsbuch zur Gnosis". Zürich 1993:
Artemis & Winkler), a source book I can highly recommend.
Physical death & spiritual rebirth, yes. On the kabbalistic Tree of Life the
"Death" card is associated with the path that leads from Netzach (Venus, 7,
fire, left belly/hip) to Tipheret (Sun, 6, air, Heart). The natural sun is
never in the North, the Black Sun ALWAYS ...
"Furchtbar rot ist jetzt die Stunde. Wutentzündet
Drohen Panther. Grausamfunkelnd. Aufgebracht!
Dieser bleibt: ein Knabe reitet ihn und kündet
Holder Wunder tollen Jubel in die Nacht".
(from Däubler's poem "Berauschter Abend")
