A history professor of mine had a theory that the psychological problems
of the German male in the early part of this century derived from the
apparently culturally-ingrained habit of the Mutti inspecting young
Adolf or young Hermann's stools on a constant basis right up until
puberty. Made all the poor Jungens and Jugends and Jurgens a little bit
anal retentive, you see.
