"Society, as the overall system, can, in case of a differentiation pattern 
orientated to functions, schematize the world only polycontexturally, that 
means: only by a plurality of irreducible 'last distinctions'
[- "Letztunterscheidungen"]. That's why the observing of observing is the 
adequate operation modus for this type of society.
The 'invisible staying' (- "Unsichtbarbleiben") of the world is still the 
condition for the possibility of all distinctions; but the complexity of the 
observation possibilities increases, when one renounces to represent the world 
inside the world, to express its unity & to find a conclusion formula.
So art has not only to do with its own world, which it is scanning through with 
its distinctions, but also - because it's operating inside of modern society - 
with the immense complexity of all that is possible. Could the function of art 
be that confrontation with what others believe to be possible?"
