What's involved in the hosting exactly?

By the time I started on the list the current section had
spiralled out into multiple threads, so I'm not
sure what the host is supposed to do. Is it something like -
read the section, post some initial thoughts and stay involved?

Can't get too involved in the more lit-crit side (not my field)
but read those kind of posts with interest.

page numbers - my latest copy is by Vintage (UK). much preferred
the Picador edition's cover illustration, but the layout inside
seems identical: does this correspond with the page numbers
everone else is using?

How about section 23?
