Can any of the list's film freaks check this out (ChrisK did you forget!!!)

The film is Old Acquaintance starring Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins.  
BD plays an author of serious fiction, while MH makes a mint writing pulp
 romances. Friends and rivals, it was remade as Rich and Famous a few 
years back.  There may well be Pynchonian resonance in the serious/pulp
dichotomy but what I'm interested in is a memory I have that this is where
 the baby first smiled.
 "Or was it gas?"  sez Bette.  

Listers have proved my memory well wrong on past occasions.  How will I
do this time?
