sure... i wasn't completely oblivious to the symbolism; but the gloomy 
undertones i felt i could sense in the writing made it impossible for me to 
enjoy reading it (and at the time, i hadn't known of v. woolf's personal 
fate). 

and perhaps i'm still subconciously pissed off about a disappointing grade 
i was given long ago by a mean-hearted lesbian-type for a splendidly 
written paper on 'mrs. dalloway' to which i sacrificed two nights of sleep 
(ahhh - the good old days). and then there was that whole snotty bloomsbury 
thing. thus am i afraid of virginia woolf...

anyway, soorry if i was being stooopid...
