I had the pleasure yesterday afternoon of watching a TV rerun of _Godzilla
vs. Monster Zero_ , an American release of the 1965 Japanese movie, _Kaiju
daisenso_. Plot summary: Aliens from the mysterious Planet X, which resides
on the dark side of of Jupiter, come to Earth asking its people to help
them save their world from the dreaded King Ghidrah by letting them
"borrow" Godzilla and Rodan. The aliens are actually planning to use the
three monsters to take over our planet; more info at
http://us.imdb.com/Title?Kaij%FB+daisenso+(1965). In the movie, the good
guys stop the evil invaders from Planet X by using the sound produced by a
gadget devised by the nurdy inventor. The reactions of the Planet X
invaders reminded me that when Zoyd hit "his highest B flat, the invaders
would grab for their radio headsets, as if unable to hear or understand the
signal" (VL 66), thus foiling their pursuit of Takeshi.
