a while back, the SF Weekly (couldve been the
Guardian?)did a front page article about the
Anderson Valley Advertiser and the legend of Wanda
Tinasky. It was right after the publishing of
Vineland. Anyway, someone at the Weekly must've
been a fan of Pynchons because the person was
obsessed with knowing if it was Pynchon and if
he/she may just "see" Pynchon. The story lost its
point. The author would rather have had a sighting
of Pynchon rather than experience the writing of
Pynchon.
