Village Voice Article

Someone was telling me that several months ago the Village Voice ran an
article or editorial by a well-known science fiction author (maybe Samual
Delany?) arguing that science fiction (as a cohesive thing or community) had
missed its chance to legitimize itself to the rest of the literary world by
not voting Gravity's Rainbow the Nebula award for best novel. Apparantly it
was nominated back in '74.

Does anyone have more information on this or could point me toward a copy of
the article?
