probably not... it's been a while since i've run into any of those anonymous 
ex-hippies from the various golden state ex-hippie nooks with that "i am/know 
the big P" aura about them. i do recall that back in the 80's there seemed to be
a lot of dodgy folks in santa barbara & ventura counties who were convinced that
pynchon had dwelt thereabouts at various times. i rather doubt that any of the 
strange characters i encountered in south california were trp himself, although 
any number of 'em could have been the original inspiration for the bodines...

personally, i tend to suspect that san narciso, much like yoyodyne industries, 
is more a composite image of several similar places in south california than a 
depiction of an actual place.
