Intel Corp. evidently takes the possible return of silent Trystero
seriously. Maybe they got an advance copy of Derek's essay or something.
Intel, through whose chips many p-messages flow, yesterday announced an
abrupt backaway from its new Pentium III processor's ability to
automatically issue a unique identification number on the internet.
Privacy advocates were threatening a boycott. A boyott might have
some real teeth if there were an alternative way to communicate. A number
of privacy advoctes I know at least rhetorically dream of old Trystero's
silent return.
