I comented on this "only one" theme back then.  If you follow the argument 
presented, it comes to a fork:

A. One _pure_ Indian.  One _mestiza._  One criolla. Then [...]

"Only one" is subject to modifiers, endless modifiers.  "Only one" = "An 
infinite (as long as imagination supplies) number"

Is this Post-Modern Platonism?

Look forward to the Suicide Song in GRGR(14), it is endlessly susceptible to 
new ways to die, thus its composer never does the deed.
