Our host asks:

>301.37 : ' 1000 yards east of Waterloo station '
 >Why here? Waterloo invokes the redrawing of Europe.

The only notable thing I can see on the map which answers this description
is

"Winchester House, on Southwark Bridge Road. From 1878 to 1937 this was the
home, and workplace of London's Chief Fire Officer. It stands on site of the
graveyard of St Saviour's Workhouse and is reputed to be haunted. It is one
of the most unusual museums in London, being home to one of the most
comprehensive collections of firefighting equipment and memorabilia in
existence"

Can''t find any record of what (if anything) happened there during the war
though.
