GRGR(13) Paranoid Progression

greetings,

one thing i think i'm noticing in this section is that the object of Slothrop's
paranoia seems to progressing from plural (Them) to singular (Imipolex-G, the
Worst Thing, It) and finally to nullility or zero (PFP #5 - which essentially
says that there is no such thing as paranoia in and of itself). 

for example, Slothrop's worries toward the end of this section that Tchitcherine
will return and catch he and Geli in the act seem well-founded enough not to be
a paranoid fantasy. 

has Slothrop's paranoia been extinguished?
