What an odd book to compare w/ GR.
Geek Love is visceral; bodily wrenching.
I see it as being about the intense but much ignored relationship between
love and disgust. How do we feel about our loved one's stinking pudenda?
How do we reconcile the glory of the love act and its animal nature?
Katherine Dunn wrote a magnificent forward to a "Faces of Death" - type book
called Death Scenes (Feral House Press). The pictures are gruesome but
compelling. Dunn knows exactly why we look at those pictures.
