For what it's worth (probably not much):

I seem to recall that "feld" is German for "field".  

There's also "path" as a prefix/suffix denoting
something to do with disease.

When I put those two together with each other (or
with anything else) I get absolutely nothing, but 
maybe I'm just slow today.
