Sixth Avenue in the forties has its genesis no doubt in some hacks' 
"visions," but its manifestation would be no more than an ugly model in some 
university office rather than a ponderous and unignorable blight on the 
cityscape were it not for Exxon and Celanese and MacGraw Hill.
