On the back Pynchon--BOLD VISION, MORALLY FOCUSED---choses
his words carefully. American photography, film, tv,
pictorials, yes a tradition, MAO II, one of the books I
think almost needs to enter a discussion of Pynchon's
traditional use of American pictorials. 

Interesting to note how many of the novels mentioned in the
NYT article, whose modern now, have film, photography,
photographers, tv, pictorials as a central structuring
metaphor.
