you want *evidence*? (a-and i suppose *cause and effect* as well...)?

well, i could swear that there's a passage somewhat later on that describes the
structure of I-G as a lattice-work of lysergides or some such. i will continue
to look for this passage (though right now it's JUST
LIKE-
    LOOK-IN FAWR A NEEDLE IN A HAAAAY-STACK!

anyways, the passage: 
"This principal was easily extended to other precursor molecules. A desired
monomer of high molecular weight could be synthesized to order..." -- GR p.250

coupled with the lsd references scattered throughout the text which commence at
about the point at which I-G is first introduced (and of which none seem
explicitly connected to anything else in the text - except for geli, that is,
and possibly sunshine(-> shit'n'shinola) as well) opens up the possibility that
the monomer for I-G is lsd. 

also, doesn't Schweitar, referring to the I-G related work at Grossli, ask how
one is supposed to synthesize a polymer "with nothing but indole around"? 
(answer - derive the pre-cursor molecules from indole)

we are also told (by V-mann Wimpe i think) that Jamf had once been working with
Du Pont and the NRC in America on a failed program for the synthesis of new
addiction-free polymer drugs based on the morphine molecule. so we know Jamf did
this sort of work (stringing together of psychoactive molecules) before. 

then there's the Greta Erdmann's blatantly psychedelic reaction to her donning
of the I-G spacesuit...

(finally, for those partial to the 'big-book theory', the passage in Vineland
about mixing lsd into baby formula could be seen as a reference/clue to GR if
this is indeed what happened to Slothrop in his infancy. a stretch perhaps...)

(and please note that I-G being composed from lsd monomers would not make it a
"form of LSD" anymore than a lipid (fat) molecule is a "form of sugar").

anyways, my claim is that the text of GR suggests the possibility of Jamf
privately inventing the lsd molecule sometime before WWI and using it first in
his infant-conditioning experiments on Slothrop and later as the precursor
molecule for I-G. i concede that there isn't any really "solid evidence" for
this, only the circumstantial GR kind - though i don't recall having seen
anything in the text which nullifies the possibility either. one man's reader
trap is another man's parable...

also, Jamf dosing baby Slothrop resonates (for me at least) with Blicero
launching Gottfried (and the true king offering his gift to the infant messiah,
and so on).
