GRGR(11): Truth serums//:: request: P-quotation on MDMA?

"Have they been slipping in at night with their truth serums to -" (p. 231).


Read recently on a webside that the CIA also tried to use MDMA (- among users 
also known as XTC) as a truth serum in the 50s. Without success, of course. 

Could anyone please be so kind to post me Pynchon's statement on this useful 
substance (- melts the armor and opens up the Heart). I remember something like 
"disconnecting the patterns of fear". Quite true. It has been posted to the list 
once or twice but unfortunately we recently cleaned up our mail box in the 
radical way. Thanks in advance.

Though synthesized by the German pharmacological industry around 1920, MDMA is 
so basically pro-life that it hardly fits into the GR-scheme of the 
death-orientated German synthetic drugs (- can't find the page now). XTC is also 
used with good results in psycholytic therapy. The Swiss psychologist Samuel 
Widmer has written about this.
