Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess
The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien
1984 by George Orwell
The Stand by Stephen King
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

This is Barnes & Noble's pick of the ten best books of the twentieth Century.

Of this list only a little over 6% chose 1984, clearly the best of this list.
The big winner was Stephen King's The Stand with a whopping 27%.
Salinger (my second choice for this list) beat Rand 7-3. Second place was
Gone with the Wind with 12.6%

Aside from this list, Pynchon's V is my all time favorite, although I admire
Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms and Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front.
Of Women writers, I like Woolf's To The Lighthouse. Strange how World War I
seems to be a theme in the last three. That war still haunts us.

Of Course, Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man must be included.

What's your pick of the best book of the century?
