Patrick Buchanan's new book

While on the subject again I should correct the title I gave to Buchanan's
book (which has been chortled over on the TV almost continuously in the
last few days). The correct title is "A Republic, not an Empire" rather
than the slightly different way I first rendered it.

Wonder if anyone has tried to analyze the derivation of the title. The
older saying, which conservative Republicans used to be fond of, was "A
Republic, not a Democracy." Pat probably very much liked that message but
decided or was persuaded it might be problematical.
