inconsistencies in publishing order?

I've been under the impression, after reading some stuff from pynchonfiles 
that V. was written after Lot49, but it was published before lot49 because 
TP wasnt able to get it published at first, and then kinda dumped it on the 
first guy who knocked. Is this notion completely false, or are there infact 
inconsistencies between the order his books were written and published?
