I know I've already said this, but I see this as an avenging angel/ghost 
kind of entity, not "human."  But it's not fully clear that Bianca is really 
dead.  Slothrop smells and feels her hanging body, but when the lights come 
back on he's afraid to really look.  That hanging body is "at the fringes" 
of his sight, and might only be imagined, after all.  His Guilt, though, is 
very pressing.
