I read it cold and alone, without the benefit of guidance from some
lit. prof. I loved every page, though not, as I've pointed out before
to general yawns, every sentence. Some of them are awkward, ugly
clinkers (as are my own, but then I'm not the writer am I, I'm the
reader). I *loved* it. Every page. And it hasn't let go since.
Did I miss stuff? Of course. Every time I read the damned thing I
find stuff I missed -- and that's a good reason why it's worth
re-reading, no?
Did I miss the provisional nature of the several paranoid structures
which interect in such fascinating patterns throughout the book? Not
at all -- this property of the "plot(s)" is clear all along, I think.
BTW Seb, I hope to get a little time to continue our exchange about
London, and the Knowledge.
