Thanks Otto and Mark: that makes better sense of the syntax. Pluto is held
tight in crab "claws", not phoenix claws. But will "burst out". I think it
still applies to Leni's personal fate: she foresees how she will lose her
influence over Franz, how her idealistic socialism will be overwhelmed by
Nazi fanaticism, how she will become a victim of the plutocracy.
