I'm pretty confident that we're not looking for the answer to an equation.
Probably something like, "To see eight eyes (CCIIIIIIII)" or "Four pairs to
see (4x2 CC). Or something that has nothing to do with Roman numerals. I
could be on the wrong track, I've never been patient enough to solve many
riddles.
