Sure; and I can see Richard M. Zhlubb as Nixon, Yoyodyne as Boeing, but also
Walter Rathenau as Walter Rathenau, Truman as Truman, Dillinger as
Dillinger, Mickey Rooney as Mickey Rooney, too. What you call the
"underside" is pretty well overt, generally. As I suggested, why don't you
do the same with Chaim Weizmann and see what happens. There's even a direct
reference to the Dreyfus Affair getting "the Zionists out and doing,
finally" (389-390), to work into that mix, with direct connections to the
Argentine hijacked u-boat, time-modulation, a North African corpse, the
Heath, "your settlement", and what-all besides. If you start with the
conclusion then the danger remains that you are only imagining, or
inventing, the premises yourself.
As Mark said: "we can
read most anything into it if we try hard enough".
