Thanks jbor, but that's a pure question of time. It's a totally private
one-man thing that can only exist because I don't have to pay for the
webspace on the server - once there has been a counterforce in this city
too. It has failed, of course, but traces remained.
I have tried to put as many English quotes as possible on my pages and hope
that reading a lot of posts on this list will improve my English so much
that I'll be able to do a complete translation someday.
But I need native speakers to look for writing and typing errors. I've just
corrected *guradian* to *guardian* at
http://www.itap.de/homes/otto/pynchon/gr71.htm
The beautiful CDF 'Landscape with Rainbow' for example came from the
p-list - and gave me the opportunity to put the two arcs in contrast - then
and now - *now* being the start of the pathfinder-mission.
Another effect was that I bought the first Harry Potter-book (the English
paperback is fairly cheap at the moment) and here's my question for today:
I asked a neighborhood child how *muggles* has been translated and in fact
it hasn't. In the German text it's *muggles* too. Does the word implies some
stupidness to the native speaker, from mug - fool, easily deceived person,
as my dic gives one explanantion? Then, to the German speaking members,
wouldn't be *Dussel* an appropriate translation?
