GRGR(34) - Slothrop Qua Slothrop

It seems that the text ca. 737-738 voices the words of those trying to 
"explain away" Slothrop:

1.  Was Slothrop purposely "broken down" because his assembly was a failure, 
  or is this a copletely revisionist history which attempts to reign 
Slothrop's story into its own schema?

2.  Did Dr. Jamf never exist?  Was he really only a projection, invented by 
Slothrop to explain away his own inherent penis-pathology?

3.  Was the Counterforce never really concerned with Slothrop qua Slothrop, 
only using him as a "pretext" for its own purposes?

This last question carries with it the implication that the Counterforce is 
now THE Force, or has at least (most?) been coopted by Them.  Losing 
Slothrop is akin to "Losing Your Religion."  "It's just too remote" is what 
Katje said when confronted by her own Blackness projected onto Enzian, 
admitting her own loss of Slothrop.  If there ever was a time that the 
Counterforce was spiritually in tune with Slothrop, they (We) are fast 
losing the connection.  If Slothrop is really a pretext, he's fast fading.  
If he's really Zoyd back in the 60's, he's already gone before the advent of 
GR's publishing.

Now is the time for all good Preterite to start flapping their Dumbo 
feathers....
