"one thing it is to only use earth, another to conceive earth' blessing and to
become native in the law of this conception for guarding the secret of being
and keeping watch over the invulnerability of the possible."

                                     (martl h. --- metaphysics & turntableing)

... a face we all know --- /and it is just here, just at this dark and silent
frame, that the pointed tip of the rocket, falling nearly a mile per second,
absolutely and forever without sound, reaches its last unmeasurable gap above
the roof of this old theatre, the last delta-t./there is time ... actually we do
not know whether the nuclear destruction really takes place ... there is
time...to learn how to recognize this face in closeup ... & he who has later
will be first ... in between & strangely connected to this is the
truth-happening of advanced technology with its apocalyptic potential ... a
basic theme for the late heidegger [- a little digression: in "sein und zeit"
the theory of technology remains on the micro-level. the early heidegger, see §
15, found the essense of the "zuhandene zeug" (- about: the stuff ready at hand)
in its practical reliablity. the "stuff" (- zeug)is always already integrated
into a "wholeness of stuff, wherein it can be this stuff, that it is" (-
"zeugganzes, darin es dieses zeug sein kann, das es ist", p. 68); this can be
understood as the network of artificial objects in everyday life. but when the
tool breaks, it falls out of the reliable network, looses its character as stuff
ready at hand and turns into something "vorhandenes" (- about: just there) like
sand at the sea ... this conception is quite similar to husserl's notion of
"technization" and to luhmann who speaks of technology as "working
simplification", which reduces complexity by the tight coupling of heteregeneous
elements ... the mutual exchange between meaning and proto-meaning is what i
call "hybridity" ... this also on the interaction of human beings and their
pets] ... wo war ich stehen geblieben? ach ja ... the late heidegger, getting
beyond the roaring 20s style of being and time, prefers the rhetoric of
spiritual humbleness ... he trys an opening thinking in the spirit of
forbearance (- "schonung"), you could call with contemporary terms "responsive"
or "ecological rationality" (- btw, quite similar to twa) ... wo/man is not the
master of that which is. wo/man is the sheperd of being ... not too far away
from the song gr sings to us ... m&d too ... heidegger's thinking aims to "bring
through its saying the unspoken word of being into language" (humanismusbrief),
this kind of theoretical activity is not longer called "philosophy" but simply
"thinking", which is said to dwell near the arts: "thinking and composing are
neighboring" ... modern technology, see die technik und die kehre, in its risky
speed is viewed as a perpetuation of the old metaphysical domination ...
heidegger calls the essence of modern technology, which is in itself nothing
technical, the "ge-stell" (- literally: stand, shelf, frame, holder etc). wo/man
and being "put" (- stellen) each other & - by this - are "put" to one another in
the "calculation of the calculable" (- berechnung des berechenbaren). "being" in
the form of nature is exploited, wo/man looses his/her ability to experience
"original" (- ursprüngliche) truth ... ge-stell is heidegger's metaphor for the
modern poly-contextural macro-relation, wherein humans and non-humans are
included as "actants" (latour) in an overlapping socio-technical network which
operates autopoietically ... the reign of the ge-stell shows itself in
the danger of a nuclear war, the permanent increase of speed and the
instrumental formalization of language (cf. unterwegs zur sprache, pp. 165, 190,
263) ... yet, heidegger's attitude towards technology is not 'reactionary' ...
having studied natural sciences (- including physics), he pointed out the
new degrees of freedom humankind reaches with new technologies ... &
heidegger also saw a spiritual chance ... though basically "danger" the ge-stell
can also be experienced as the precursor of the so called "ereignis" (- a key
term of the later heidegger; literally: incident, event): "in the essense of
danger, thus, hides the possibility of a turning, in which the forgottenness of
the essense of being turns in such a way, that with this turning the truth of
the essence of being expressly comes into that which is" (technik und kehre,
40)... the last delta-t ... this idea of a total salvational change of all
things dwelling inside the highest risk is derived from hölderlin (1770-1843), a
poet our swabian daoist studied quite closely ... in m.o.p.a.t. i give you the
first lines of "patmos", a poem dedicated to the prince of discs ...

 "near is
and difficult to grasp the god.
but where there is danger, grows
  the saving also.
  in the dark dwell
  the eagles and fearless go
the sons of the alps above the abyss away
  on easy built bridges."
