The thing I love about _The Nation_ -- and, second only to Frank Lewis's crossword puzzles, the reason I maintain my subscription -- is for the entertaining glimpses into the bizarre alternate universe the magazine inhabits. Alterman's article was actually pretty well reasoned, but it concludes with the envoi:

"Congratulations to Ralph Nader on George W. Bush's decision to appoint Andrew Card, formerly the auto industry's top antienvironmental lobbyist, to be his Chief of Staff. Just a few more appointments like this one, I suppose, and the revolution can begin in earnest."

Yup. That'll happen.
