NP: Leonard Cohen Novel

The Canadian-Cree singer, Buffy Sainte-Marie, recorded a song called "God is 
Alive, Magic is Afoot" around 1970.  It was played by fm stations a lot back 
then.  The words were from the novel.  It was a letter written by one of the 
characters from a mental hospital to a friend on the outside.  It's been so 
long since I read the book.  I still have the battered paperback.  Maybe I 
should go back into it.
