To me it's always sounded kind of O. Henry-ish. O. Henry was the pen
name for William Sidney Porter, turn of the century American short story
writer, known for bittersweet love stories with surprise endings often
based on coincidence. Long out of artistic favor. A discredited genre P.
might be tempted to resurrect--put to new purpose.
