In Jungian psychology, the Shadow consists of all aspects of the individual
personality which are unacceptable to the individual and which are disowned
by the conscious mind. While if you ask a person about such traits they will
deny having them, it is obvious to all who know him or her that they are
right there. The Shadow is an aspect of the personal unconscious, not the
collective unconscious, but it must be assimilated for an individual to be
strong enough to encounter the archetypal psyche. For about $125/hour you
can find a Jungian analyst who will help you believe all of this means
something. They are able to do this because they have assimilated the greed
which was in their Shadow.
