Howz about the immediate creation of a Claude Levi-Strauss List to sort
this out? :)

The burned Irish made me think of Giordano Bruno, another vitim of flames
(and of the Church): his philosophy was highly pluridisciplinary,
speculative, daring (from geology to metaphysics, and sometimes a little
occult science...). His using of doubt as foundation of his methodological
research came well before Descartes.
His complete works are now being published in Paris, good news for whoever's
interested. Bruno travelled all over Europe in search of some peace for his
work, spoke countless languages, but was finally arrested in Venice,
prosecuted for heresy, and we all know how the story ends... with a
beautiful, yet creepy, statue on the Campo dei Fiori in Rome.
Thomas.
