Daddy v. Buddha: Candy Drilled

For our Satiric Satyr Slothrop, it's more like: The Cavalryman v.
Nowhereman, and it takes work (rather than just coming) on our parts, to
understand how we've come to be here, i.e., to interpret history. He (and
we!) can just lay back and enjoy it, or we can work it into something
meaningful The facts are important and it takes work to dig them out. But
then, the triple integration of acceleration: SSS a dt is, indeed, work,
and we are beginning to accelerate.

So this would signal the need for a new dialectic which would somehow
include the excluded middle.

For the more scientifically inclined, I would direct you to 1998 nobel
laureate in physics, Robert Laughlin's twin articles in PNAS (Proceedings
of the National Academy), the 1/04/2000 issue: "The Theory of Everything,"
and "The Middle Way." (pp28-31, & 32-37) You don't really need math to get
something out of both articles.

Greek Reductionism is duly "chastained" and emergence is enshrined.

For the artistically inclined, the concept of "emergence," is exemplified
well by the cover of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association),
1/19/2000, which features Rene' Magritte's surrealistic masterpiece: Time
Transfixed, and a nice interpretation of same by, M. Theresa Southgate,
M.D. (One of my heroes).

Everytime I see that particular work of Magritte's, I can't help thinking
of the gardener in the movie version of _Candy_

I hear the clock a 'ticking
On the mantle shelf
See the hands a 'moving
But I'm by myself
I wonder where you are tonight
And why I'm by myself
I can't see you
Does it mean you don't love any more.

Open the door
