Ron Rosenbaum in Explaining Hitler makes a related point :
	"...the dark, hidden truth about Hitler's psyche. It's been picked up and
mythologized in the fictions of Thomas Pynchon (his Geli-like figure in
Gravity's Rainbow)..." 
but whether it is Geli T. or Katje here that Rosenbaum is referring to in
GR isn't really clear in fact it sounds like it could be based on something
he heard about the book.
