Howdy
I'm no rocket scientist (as I've demonstrated to all on several
occasions) but, I nevertheless venture, brennschluss would not be at
apogee.
The rocket is accellerating for as long as the motor burns.
Accelleration increases over time, not just velocity, as the rocket
burns fuel and reduces its mass -- assuming that the motor burns fuel
and oxidizer at a consistent rate. I don't know for sure, but a rocket
motor would be engineered for an optimum burn rate which wouldn't be
permitted to vary.
The rocket accellerates towards a point in the sky, travelling upwards
in some sort of complicated arc which approximates one straightish leg
of a parabola. The motor is shut down at the moment when the velocity
reaches a preset value. The rocket then continues up and over the
parabolic trajectory which has only been approximated up to the moment
of brenschluss.
