Slothrop is Rocketman at 360.34 a line or two earlier. Perhaps the
weak hallucinating Slothrop has recognized his rocketude in this
dream-state, and this dreamy self-recognition surfaces in the instant
his inherent rocketude is manifest to Saure, Trudy and Magda: a
stoner's illumination. The extended episode with Enzian seems reortage
by the narrator, because we return to Slothrop's 'present' at 364.14
"Later in Berlin...." and brief description of his response to the
encounter, we get sick Slothrop's brief rumination about Schwartzstoff,
Tannhauser and W. Slothrop, and spin off into reportage about Greta
Erdmann.

(This is one of my favorite parts...:)
